Portions, portions, portions. We hear it all the time. It matters what you eat in moderation, your portions, and so on and so forth. Well, that can be tricky in the United States where our portions are dramatically larger than any other country in the world. So we then get used to our brain thinking we need that much. My Rule #1 has a caveat. It's not just Eat When You're Hungry, and that's to help smooth out the stress of "moderation" and "portions." Rule #1: Eat Only When You're Hungry.
Easy enough. But there's a mini-second step with that. Cut your portion in half, eat that half (unless you get full before then), then wait 15 minutes before eating the second half. What's that all about? It's automatic portion control! No matter whether you're at home or at a restaurant, it doesn't matter how big or small the plate is, you'll automatically split the serving and wait 15 minutes before eating the second half. This gives your body time to catch up and inform your brain whether you're still hungry or not. More often than not, after waiting 15 minutes, you're not hungry anymore. So save the food for later. It'll be there. And if you're still hungry after 15 minutes, listen to your body.

Leading a healthy lifestyle doesn't have to be so damn complicated. There is a new fad diet every year, and a billion-dollar industry built on your insecurities.
There's no easy way to instantly become a healthier happier person. I'm sure I can't be the first to tell you it's a journey. Once in a while, however, you'll find a shortcut.
